Shape scalable infrastructure for social good as a Junior DevOps Engineer on a distributed team advancing equitable, sustainable change through technology. You'll help design, deploy, and maintain cloud environments and data tools used by nonprofit organizations worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and enhance AWS infrastructure using Terraform, with attention to networking, access controls, secrets, logging, and cost efficiency.
- Write and maintain backend and frontend code for internal platforms and shared services.
- Automate software delivery workflows using GitHub Actions, including testing, containerization, and environment provisioning.
- Support containerized deployments with Docker, including orchestration and scaling strategies.
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and observability systems to ensure system reliability.
- Respond to incidents under guidance from senior engineers and contribute to post-mortem analysis.
- Develop documentation, templates, and tooling to improve developer productivity and onboarding.
- Engage directly with partner organizations to support tool adoption, gather feedback, and guide product improvements.
- Take part in special initiatives aligned with long-term strategic goals.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years in DevOps, infrastructure, or full-stack engineering roles.
- Practical experience with Python or Go in production environments.
- Proven work with AWS or similar cloud platforms in live systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions.
- Working knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a remote, agile, and collaborative environment.
- Sound judgment in balancing immediate needs with long-term system health.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field—though real-world experience may substitute.
- Exposure to monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
- Experience with on-call support or incident response.
- Understanding of networking, system reliability, and security fundamentals.
- Interest in infrastructure cost tracking and optimization.
