Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp is hiring a Shipping Clerk for the 2nd Shift. As the key link in our logistics chain, you will ensure products move smoothly and accurately from our facility to customers by verifying shipments, maintaining meticulous records, and preparing items for delivery with precision.
What You'll Do
- Handle shipping paperwork, including purchase orders, return authorizations, and delivery notes.
- Review delivery notes for special instructions and highlight them for material handlers.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation while resolving routine issues.
- Direct the movement of shipments from receiving platforms to storage and work areas.
- Schedule inbound and outbound loads and keep a detailed log of all commercial vehicles.
- Prepare special labels for customer orders and ensure every shipment meets delivery deadlines.
- Provide timely, professional updates to carriers, 3rd-party logistics partners, and customers.
- Share information with customer service and internal teams to track and resolve carrier issues.
- Use SAP to print pick lists, confirm and post orders, and access carrier, ship date, and tracking details.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
- Help ensure proper storage, inventory control, and security of all product stocks.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- Act as a backup for other office personnel when needed.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in a shipping environment processing customer orders.
- General knowledge of shipping procedures.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Bilingual skills.
