Marlowe Environmental Services is looking for a SHEQ Support Officer on a Fixed Term Contract of up to 12 months. You will support our Health and Safety Manager in implementing and updating the organisation’s health and safety management system, covering the Midlands and South East regions.
What You'll Do
- Support the Health and Safety Manager in implementing and updating the organisation’s health and safety management system.
- Conduct and review risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements in collaboration with operational teams.
- Monitor workplace conditions through regular site inspections and audits; track and follow up on any required actions.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of internal H&S training sessions, inductions, and toolbox talks.
- Advise and guide staff on H&S queries in accordance with legislation and company policy.
- Support H&S reporting through the collation of data and preparation of regular reports and dashboards for management review.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the health and safety culture across the organisation.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role.
- Solid understanding of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and workplace inspections.
- Full Manual Driving Licence.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (essential).
- Frequent travel to operational sites which will require overnight stay.
Nice to Have
- Experience preferably within a high-risk or multi-site environment.
- Additional health and safety certifications (e.g., Fire Safety, Manual Handling, First Aid, IOSH Managing Safely) are desirable.
- Tech IOSH status or working towards (preferred).

- Salary: £30,000-£40,000
- 23 days holiday per year plus bank holidays.

Work Mode
The role is based locally in the UK. You will be required to travel frequently to operational sites across the Reading area, Midlands and South East regions.
