United Therapeutics is hiring a Senior/Advanced Lung Disease Sales Specialist (Allentown, PA) *Rare Disease Opportunity*

About the Role

Drive awareness and adoption of life-changing therapies for rare lung conditions as a Senior/Advanced Lung Disease Sales Specialist. Covering the Allentown, PA area and surrounding regions, this role focuses on advancing treatment for patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). You will serve as a trusted resource for healthcare providers, delivering accurate, science-based information about key therapies, including Tyvaso, in alignment with approved labeling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expand market presence by engaging pulmonologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and specialty distributors within a defined territory
  • Deliver consistent, compliant product messaging and clinical education to support informed treatment decisions
  • Develop and execute territory business plans to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Attend medical conferences, symposia, and patient support group events to strengthen engagement with the PH-ILD and IPF communities
  • Collaborate with field-based colleagues to align outreach and maximize impact
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disease state, product data, and competitive developments
  • Use sales force automation tools for accurate reporting and territory management
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and corporate promotional guidelines

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree—preferably in nursing or life sciences—or equivalent healthcare experience. Six or more years of successful sales experience promoting pharmaceuticals to specialty providers such as pulmonologists and cardiologists is required. At least two years must be in cardiovascular or pulmonary disease therapeutics. A valid driver’s license and proven ability to lead through relationship-building and strategic planning are essential.

Preferred candidates will have experience in biotech or specialty pharma sales, with specific exposure to PH-ILD or IPF markets. Prior work within academic medical centers or major institutions is an advantage.

Compensation and Work Environment

This is a remote-based role centered in Allentown, PA, with 75–80% travel expected for customer visits, team meetings, and national events. The base salary for an ALD Specialist ranges from $130,000 to $160,000; Senior ALD Specialists earn between $155,000 and $180,000 annually. Additional incentives include competitive sales bonuses and long-term rewards.
