IMP Group is looking for a Senior Writer to join our Technical Publications team. In this role, you will prepare revisions and create new technical publications using markup languages, ensuring all information is comprehensive, accurate, and meets customer specifications for manuals and technical documentation.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, convert, manipulate, and transcribe supplied technical data into markup languages like SGML, HTML, or XML for hard copy, electronic, or web-based publications.
- Ensure technical data reflects the latest system and equipment configuration.
- Work within the Technical Publications team to meet project priorities and deadlines while following departmental practices.
- Prepare clear, concise material and provide instructions for supporting illustrations when required.
- Ensure all produced material is logically presented, consistent with specifications, and meets customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to understand markup languages such as SGML, XML, and HTML.
- Proficiency in a variety of PC tools and software applications.
- Familiarity with Configuration Management.
- Post-secondary education is required.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian government security clearances.
Nice to Have
- Post-secondary education in a technical writing capacity or equivalent.
- Experience in technical writing or a comparable role.
- Familiarity with S1000D, ATA, CALs, and MIL/STD specifications.
- Knowledge of common Aircraft, Naval, or Land mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
- Knowledgeable in using at least two of: Adobe Framemaker, InDesign, Arbortext Epic Editor, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or comparable software.
- Collaboration skills and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an eye for detail.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Preference given to applicants capable of authoring in both official languages.
