What You'll Do
Guide a distributed design team by defining clear creative standards in layout, typography, motion, and brand alignment. Turn ambiguous project briefs into actionable direction that accelerates execution. Develop reusable design systems—including templates, component libraries, and brand kits—that ensure consistency and efficiency across deliverables.
Oversee all creative output, conducting thorough reviews to catch both obvious errors and subtle inconsistencies. Provide feedback that helps designers grow, reinforcing long-term improvement. Determine what excellence looks like for each client and project type, and ensure the team meets those benchmarks.
Manage incoming work by assessing complexity, urgency, dependencies, and risk. Assign tasks based on individual strengths, capacity, and client context. Quickly resolve roadblocks caused by missing assets, unclear scope, or conflicting input. Proactively communicate schedule risks and suggest practical adjustments like phased delivery or scoped iterations.
Represent the team in key client discussions, including onboarding, brand alignment sessions, and quarterly reviews. Identify gaps in brand consistency or documentation and lead efforts to close them. Use client feedback not as a trigger for rework, but as insight to refine systems and prevent future issues.
Lead regular team meetings to track progress, address blockers, and align on priorities. Facilitate coaching cycles, including one-on-ones and skill development plans, to strengthen individual and team capabilities. Foster a positive, high-performing culture that values both creative excellence and sustainable pace.
Improve the quality of incoming briefs by introducing better questions, clearer examples, and defined boundaries. Identify recurring pain points in briefing, quality assurance, or tooling, and propose effective process changes. Work closely with production and customer success teams to align on workflows, expectations, and escalation protocols.
