About the Role

Parsons Transportation Group is hiring a Senior Technical Manager to focus on developing and executing the business plan in transportation planning, design, and management for various Regions and Municipalities around the GTA, Ontario. You will act as the primary company representative with clients and selected subcontractors during program execution.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee, lead, manage, mentor, and contribute to the project team for the successful completion of field investigations, geometric design, grading design, roadside safety design, drainage design, storm sewer design, pavement marking and signage design, complex construction staging design, traffic management, roadway modelling, quantity estimating, utility coordination, contract drawing preparation, and contract document preparation using Regional, municipal, and MTO standards, policies, and practices.
  • Manage construction cost estimate development, scheduling, budgeting, invoicing, construction liaison, project management, and coordination with clients, agencies, stakeholders, and subconsultants.
  • Coordinate with other technical disciplines across the organization to ensure integrated and comprehensive engineering solutions.
  • Assist in business development activities, including proposal preparation, technical project methodology development, work programs, schedules, invoicing, Change Orders, risk management, and budgets.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for clients and project management, ensuring technical excellence and quality assurance of project tasks and deliverables.
  • Engage clients as Project Manager on multiple projects and build relationships.
  • Assist and support the Technical and Program Director in supporting overall strategic and growth requirements and be an active member of the management team for the Roads and Highways group.
  • Participate in negotiations with stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and in public meetings in support of clients.

What We're Looking For

  • A proven track record and capability to support and work on multiple projects with effective problem/conflict resolution skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, legislation, regulations, and technology, including road and highway design, construction, maintenance, traffic operations, contract delivery, asset management, and oversight.
  • Firsthand and impressive knowledge of related fields in transportation including geotechnical, pavement design, rail and transit, Bus Rapid Transit, drainage, tunneling, traffic and transportation engineering, environmental assessment and MCEA processes, and practices including Environmental Study Reports (ESR).
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in training, mentoring, motivating, leading, and supervising a team of highly qualified professional staff and experience in managing technical teams to deliver required business objectives.
  • Efficient and enhanced communication, conflict and change management, and people skills to establish and maintain excellent professional working relationships with all staff and other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Hands-on experience in the management of commercial and financial control of projects.
  • A commitment to staying informed of trends, developments, and advancements in the transportation planning and design field to maintain technical competency and provide state-of-the-art services and advice to clients.
  • Ability to nurture and grow client and industry partner relationships to support business growth.

Team & Environment

You will be part of the Critical Infrastructure team and the Roads and Highways group management team, reporting to the Technical and Program Director.
