Responsibilities
- Apply practical and appropriately scaled Systems Safety and Airworthiness methods to accelerate delivery of the Omen Capability
- Create and execute a customized Systems Safety strategy consistent with MIL-STD-882E and end-user needs for the Omen system
- Collaborate with customers, end-users, and regional regulators to determine applicable Airworthiness standards and frameworks, shaping the foundational Airworthiness strategy
- Produce Airworthiness documentation and plans to support compliance with regional regulatory requirements and certification submissions
- Define Systems Safety requirements and work with Vehicle, Mission, Support, and Production teams to integrate safety best practices into design
- Determine when and how to perform advanced safety assessments, including Functional Hazard Analysis, System and Subsystem Hazard Analyses, System of Systems Hazard Analysis, Environmental, Operational, Health, and Support Hazard Analyses, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis, and FMECA
- Detect, record, and track hazards and associated risks for the Omen program, manage risk databases, and verify implementation of risk controls
- Participate in System Design Reviews and key engineering governance events—including Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Safety Review Boards—providing Systems Safety and Airworthiness input
- Lead evaluation and resolution of Systems Safety findings from Root Cause Corrective Action investigations and incident reports
- Advance Systems Safety methodologies and workflows through ongoing process improvement initiatives
- Author and maintain the Omen System Safety Program Plan (SSPP)
