Position Overview
Join a team dedicated to advancing carbon-free nuclear energy as a Senior Structural Engineer. In this role, you'll lead structural design and analysis efforts for nuclear and industrial facilities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and innovative solutions. The position blends technical leadership, modern engineering tools, and mentorship to support both project success and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in structural steel and reinforced concrete design to develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Use advanced software including STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, and ANSYS for structural modeling and analysis
- Support drafting teams in producing construction documents and design deliverables
- Guide junior engineers in problem-solving and technical execution
- Travel to client, vendor, and plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification
- Lead the integration of automation and data-driven methods in engineering workflows
- Supervise scripting and programming efforts in Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel to streamline calculations and documentation
- Establish best practices for the use of AI and agentic tools, ensuring accuracy and validation of results
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural focus from an ABET-accredited program. A minimum of five years of experience in structural design and analysis is required. Proficiency in structural analysis software and familiarity with standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI are essential. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are expected.
Preferred qualifications include a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, professional licensure (PE or SE), experience with power plant structures, and on-site construction support. Additional training or experience in computer science, artificial intelligence, or software engineering is a strong asset.
