Ensono is hiring a Senior SQL Database Administrator

Ensono is looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our Global Implementation & Operational team. You will support mission-critical infrastructure for a key client, delivering responsive support and managing operational and migration activities. This role requires a dedicated resource who can bring strong SQL Server expertise to guide the team and work directly with clients daily.

What You'll Do

• Act as the primary support resource for an existing key client.
• Work directly with clients on project-related issues and requests.
• Proactively review high-level project requirements and deliverables.
• Lead and guide the team during major incidents and outages.
• Automate DBA best practices and collection processes.
• Design, enhance, upgrade, and build new client MSSQL environments.
• Perform software installations, upgrades, and patches to MSSQL instances and servers.
• Define and maintain MSSQL standards and governance.
• Ensure the integrity and recoverability of MSSQL applications using industry-standard technologies.
• Perform strategic analysis and design of MSSQL infrastructure, recommending improvements.
• Serve as a technical resource for business analysts and development groups on MSSQL standards and design.
• Ensure operational excellence during infrastructure improvements like upgrades and migrations.
• Assist in creating and maintaining documentation, runbooks, knowledge articles, and diagrams.
• Assist with major issues, technical challenges, and troubleshooting, acting as an escalation point.
• Facilitate open communication and collaboration between the operations DBA team and the client.

What We're Looking For

• Excellent understanding of SQL Server Technology, including builds, upgrades, patching, migrations, and troubleshooting across multiple versions.
• Must have experience with automation using PowerShell or another scripting language.
• Experience administering SQL Server databases from versions 2008 to current.
• Experience configuring and administering log shipping, mirroring, clustering, and Always On availability groups.
• Experience with SQL Transaction replication in complex environments.
• Experience with SQL Performance Tuning and identifying bottlenecks.
• Experience migrating server databases from on-premises environments to the public or private cloud.
• Excellent understanding of VMware and awareness of Cloud technology.
• Excellent technical awareness of IT server infrastructure.
• Must have excellent client-facing communication skills.
• Must have a deep understanding of AWS & Azure technologies related to SQL Server.
• At least 7-10 years’ experience in an IT MSSQL support environment.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of other database technologies such as Postgres or cloud-native databases.
• Working knowledge of tools like Ansible, Chef, Terraform, Python, Salt, or Shavlik.
• Experience with Netbackup, Commvault, or Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager.
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework.

• Compensation range: $95,000 to $148,000 annually.
