Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain control plane services shared by Starburst Enterprise, Starburst Galaxy, and Trino.
- Contribute to the Unified Control Plane by consolidating capabilities such as access control, multi-cluster management, routing, catalog management, and observability into a single implementation serving both SaaS and self-managed deployments.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency of the services you build, including provisioning and upgrading APIs, cluster lifecycle management, and operational tooling.
- Build for two distinct operating models simultaneously: a service operated at scale by Starburst, and software deployed and operated by customers across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on-premise environments.
- Provide considerate and timely reviews of peers' pull requests and design proposals.
- Continuously improve engineering processes, tests, and systems to scale codebase and team productivity together.
- Collaborate with team members and other teams globally in a fast-paced environment.
- Prioritize focused work with minimal formal meetings, allowing concentration on coding and PR reviews.
- Clearly articulate ideas in writing via Slack, GitHub PRs, and design documents, essential for a globally distributed team.
- Provide exceptional customer support for both internal and external customers.
- Handle customer-reported problems with utmost seriousness, respecting the trust placed in the platform.
- Periodically assist with the React and TypeScript-based Portal UI that surfaces these features; frontend knowledge is beneficial but not required.
