About the Role

RBC Borealis is hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Digital Branch SRE organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and support of SRE solutions for a suite of critical applications. As part of the Engineering arm, you'll collaborate closely with our Delivery team and other IT partners to ensure system reliability and performance.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in code and non-functional reviews for all production-bound SRE solutions.
  • Ensure problems are quickly identified and resolved through proactive monitoring and support via tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Drive transformation by continuously automating existing manual processes.
  • Track, audit, monitor, and implement technical work streams.
  • Act as a portfolio Subject Matter Expert, documenting common components and core functionalities.
  • Serve as an escalation point in the on-call rotation and support maintenance and deployment requirements.
  • Drive incident and problem management, including RCA action item fulfillment.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and technical standards to enhance productivity, monitoring, and tooling.
  • Manage technology currency, such as server patching and certificate renewal, with an emphasis on automation.
  • Communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and employees across Canada and worldwide.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and best practices for running critical systems.
  • Intermediate experience in a variety of environments, including Cloud, Linux/Unix/Windows, services/APIs, and databases.
  • Working experience with scripting, ideally in Java/.NET and SQL.
  • Strong expertise in major incident handling, communication, and investigation.
  • Effective negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence the squad at an SRE level.
  • Hands-on experience with SRE tools like Ansible, Dynatrace Managed, Moog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, GitHub, Slack, Elastic, Logstash, Kibana, Blue Prism, and Catch Point.
  • Ability to work in a 7x24x365 support environment.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of KAFKA, OCP, and SCON infrastructure and processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platform applications and processes.
