Role Overview
Work as a DevOps Technician in a healthcare-focused technology environment, based in Indianapolis. You'll be responsible for managing a large-scale, distributed computing infrastructure with a strong emphasis on automation, cloud optimization, and security compliance. This hybrid role offers flexibility with remote work options and a collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and resolve security vulnerabilities across a complex computing landscape.
- Design and implement Ansible automation workflows, using GitHub Enterprise for version control and deployment.
- Support research and development efforts by prototyping new tools and system improvements.
- Analyze system performance and recommend upgrades to technologies, configurations, or operational procedures.
- Advise on procurement of hardware, software, and infrastructure to support data center scalability and reliability.
- Manage and fine-tune AWS resources including EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda to ensure efficiency and resilience.
- Apply AWS security standards such as IAM policies, data encryption, and VPC architecture to safeguard systems.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance metrics, cost trends, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation for systems, configurations, and operational processes.
- Support team growth by mentoring colleagues in AWS best practices and automation techniques.
- Stay current with evolving cloud technologies, particularly in AWS services and infrastructure as code.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive systems and data at all times.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and supporting critical IT systems.
- Proven track record working with AWS, including provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Direct experience with Linux distributions including CentOS, Debian, and RHEL, along with tools like Ansible, Vagrant, Proxmox, PXE boot, and Kickstart.
- Solid understanding of Linux system administration, data center operations, networking, and storage architectures.
- Experience managing patch cycles, vulnerability remediation, and IT lifecycle processes.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a close-knit technical team.
- Proficient with open-source technologies across the DevOps stack.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues to root cause.
- Knowledge of infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Understanding of high-availability systems that operate continuously with minimal downtime.
- Exposure to security frameworks and technologies for protecting infrastructure and applications.
Technical Environment
Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, and VPC. Automation with Ansible and GitHub. Linux platforms: CentOS, Debian, RHEL. Virtualization and provisioning via Vagrant, Proxmox, PXE, and Kickstart. Infrastructure as code using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
