Boehringer Ingelheim is hiring a Senior Scientist, Human Genetics to lead the integration of human genetics into our drug discovery pipeline. This role is central to advancing therapeutic strategies across inflammatory, respiratory, cardiorenal metabolic, oncology, and other disease areas, using genetics to inform disease biology, safety, and clinical proof of concept.
What You'll Do
- Partner with cross-functional teams to establish therapeutic strategies by contributing human genetics evidence and innovative ideas.
- Build datasets and analytic capabilities with the global human genetics team to address research needs.
- Offer insights and execute tasks as a subject matter expert in genetics, with opportunity to grow in specific disease area knowledge.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across internal departments and with external academic and industry partners.
- Directly participate in analysis, interpret results, and clearly communicate findings to diverse audiences.
- Manage project responsibilities with oversight from senior leadership.
- Contribute to nominating first-in-class novel therapeutic concepts based on human genetics evidence.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with a genetics focus.
- Several years of professional expertise.
- 2+ years of post-PhD industry experience in disease translation, ideally within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
- Familiarity with at least one of Boehringer Ingelheim's disease focus areas.
- Strong genetics expertise demonstrated through successful disease translation applications and a proven track record of delivering value.
- Extensive computing and programming experience with proficiency in relevant languages.
- Proven experience as a strong collaborator and presenter driving impact within matrix environments.
- Demonstrated project management expertise leading cross-functional projects and teams.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.

- Compensation range: $140,000 to $222,000.
