Responsibilities
- Developing proposals and submissions for new operating capabilities, including drafting, consulting and negotiating with CASA.
- Overseeing day-to-day flight operations, reviewing and approving flight plans in line with regulations and internal procedures.
- Identifying and implementing drone technology solutions across business units.
- Leading deployment of new drone/sensor technologies, including documentation, licensing, and regulatory approvals.
- Delivering training packages and coaching experienced operators and citizen pilots.
- Collaborating with the workforce and specialist pilots to deliver complex, high-impact solutions.
- Driving safety initiatives and ensuring compliance in industrial environments.
Requirements
- CASA Remote Pilot Licence for 25kg+ aircraft (150kg preferred) with endorsements such as OONP, EVLOS, and BVLOS OCTA considered advantageous.
- Minimum 500 hours of drone piloting and 200+ hours in industrial inspection environments; experience with DJI and Flyability equipment highly desirable.
- Operational and regulatory expertise with proven capability operating under a ReOC, with demonstrated collaboration with CASA and familiarity with manned aviation considered advantageous.
- Strong track record in developing and deploying drone technologies, with the ability to integrate data into business management systems and previous experience in training development and delivery.
- Tertiary qualifications in technical /engineering or business disciplines (preferred), with the physical capability to work safely in varied outdoor industrial conditions.
- Willingness to travel with a flexible work approach and a valid Australian Driver’s Licence, enabling site visits across the South-West of WA and to Alcoa’s Portland Smelter in Victoria as needed.
