UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is hiring a Senior Professional Staff Nurse. This Registered Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team, responsible for setting standards for the level and quality of care. The role combines leadership, partnership, and clinical expertise to manage patient care activities through independent judgment and team collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, staff, patients, and families.
- Work productively within a complex environment, handling multiple priorities and specialized equipment.
- Exercise good clinical judgment with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Apply the nursing process within the Relationship Based Care framework to create a healing environment.
- Formulate daily goals and a holistic plan of care in partnership with patients.
- Identify clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues for the patient.
- Communicate the patient's condition effectively to other care providers and recommend changes in care.
- Build healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues to create a compassionate patient-focused experience.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Pennsylvania or a compact state.
- CPR certification based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
- Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
- Annual completion of a professional contribution OR a UPMC-approved nursing certification within 1 year of hire/transfer.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance, all with renewal.
Nice to Have
- BSN degree.
- UPMC-approved nursing certification.
