Sherwin-Williams is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our core infrastructure platforms. This role ensures the high performance and reliability of our systems—spanning both cloud and on-premises environments—in direct support of DevOps initiatives and broader business goals.
What You'll Do
- Maintain platform hardware, software, and network requirements in alignment with business needs and organizational standards.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to drive continuous improvement.
- Manage and configure DevOps tools like API Gateway and Terraform to support organizational processes.
- Collaborate with DevOps and production teams to update, troubleshoot, and maintain platforms for new features and services.
- Identify, prioritize, and implement automated and orchestrated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize service delivery.
- Coordinate tasks of other teams working within the platform to ensure smooth operations.
- Identify and mitigate security threats to comply with strict security standards.
- Develop and implement security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures.
- Produce high-level design documentation as required.
- Conduct technical research for new/modified systems or problem resolution.
- Manage vendor relationships concerning design, platform changes, and other modifications.
What We're Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or a related role.
- 4+ years of experience with platform engineering and infrastructure components including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience in automated interaction with physical infrastructure.
- Experience managing and maintaining cloud-based environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with monitoring and log management tools like Nagios, Splunk, and ELK.
- Experience developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Excellent scripting experience in languages like Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
Nice to Have
- Advanced PowerShell proficiency: developing custom scripts and modules, integrating with VMWare and Active Directory, and using GitHub for version control.
- Hands-on experience with Tanium automation via console and API.
- Ability to automate ServiceNow workflows with direct API calls and Terraform.
- Skilled in managing file shares across Azure Files, Azure File Sync (AFS), Distributed File System (DFS), and traditional on-premises SMB.
- System monitoring experience and automation with tools like Zabbix.
- Proficiency in scripting software installation packages, preferably with Tanium.
- Ability to use SIEM tools like Sumo Logic for log analysis and security monitoring.
- Familiarity with SharePoint for document management and team collaboration.
- Experience using JIRA for Agile task management.
- Experience with vaulting technologies such as CyberArk.
