Position Overview
This role is for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical systems design across diverse, complex projects. Based in Urbandale, IA, with remote eligibility, the position blends technical authority with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior engineers, guiding project teams, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts with minimal oversight, making critical decisions that shape project outcomes
- Supervise and develop junior engineering staff through direct mentorship and structured training
- Plan and delegate design tasks across project disciplines, managing workloads for projects of all scales
- Review technical documentation and correspondence prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and professionalism
- Take a central role in quality assurance, especially for large or technically challenging projects
- Support leadership within the Technical Operations Team, contributing to process improvements and best practices
- Diagnose and resolve field issues, including site visits when necessary, with limited reliance on senior support
- Act as Project Manager for major initiatives or multiple concurrent projects
- Identify new business opportunities and support proposal development and client presentations
- Help grow firm engagement by maintaining relationships with existing clients and cultivating new ones
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Minimum of 18 years of relevant engineering experience
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $112,000 – $167,000. Additional compensation includes annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
