AECOM is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Business Line. You'll support a multi-disciplinary design team tackling the most challenging engineering tasks in power generation, including traditional steam, thermal power generation, and advanced nuclear technologies. In this role, you'll provide technical expertise and lead mechanical design efforts.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as lead engineer on all size projects, maintaining responsibility for deliverable development
  • Generate mechanical engineering deliverables to support all project phases from Feasibility through Detail Design
  • Coordinate with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings
  • Collaborate across disciplines on equipment general arrangements, P&IDs, isometrics, and asset lists
  • Provide technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence studies, and complex client solutions
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions
  • Offer home office support during construction, start-up, and commissioning phases
  • Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Participate in project and client meetings and interact with vendors, regulatory agencies, and contractors
  • Assist with internal and external presentations and travel occasionally to client or project sites

What We're Looking For

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 6+ years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities

Nice to Have

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 12+ years of experience with Power Generation Facilities
  • 5+ years as project technical mechanical lead or mechanical engineer of record
  • Experience engineering and designing Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations
  • Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTMs, etc.)
  • Expert experience specifying mechanical equipment and piping material specifications
  • Familiarity with diverse metallurgy
  • Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
  • Strong experience with engineering software packages listed in the Technical Stack
  • Experience working in collaborative model environments like Navisworks or BIM 360
  • Demonstrated experience in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects
  • Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams

Technical Stack

  • Thermoflow package, Hysys, Caesar II
  • Pipe-Flo or other hydraulic modeling applications
  • AspenTech applications, Applied Flow Technology applications
  • Navisworks, BIM 360
