The University of British Columbia (UBC) is hiring a Senior Manager, Talent Lead. This is a strategic leadership role designed to fuel hyper-growth. Reporting to the VP, People, you will be a hands-on, player-coach responsible for leading a team of recruiters and personally driving critical searches, serving as a trusted advisor on talent strategy.
What You'll Do
- Personally own and drive the full-cycle recruiting process for critical leadership searches in Product & Engineering, Data, Network Innovation, Sales, Marketing, and M&A.
- Act as a player-coach for a team of four recruiters, providing mentorship and guidance to achieve hiring targets.
- Guide and evolve the talent acquisition strategy to support 100% YoY growth and build scalable processes for a future public offering.
- Serve as a talent advisor to the leadership team, providing market intelligence and strategic guidance on attracting key talent.
- Oversee key relationships with offshore partners as part of the global talent strategy.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Talent Acquisition in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Significant experience in full-cycle executive recruiting for senior leadership roles.
- Proven success as a player-coach, with experience mentoring or leading other recruiters.
- A track record of building and executing talent strategies that have successfully supported rapid company growth.
- Exceptional ability to partner with and advise senior leadership on critical hiring decisions.
Nice to Have
- Experience recruiting in logistics, supply chain, or enterprise software.
- Direct experience scaling a talent acquisition function through a significant scaling phase, IPO, or major funding round.
- A builder mentality with a passion for building the future without a playbook in a dynamic organization.
- A growth mentality and a passion for working on a winning team through strong partnerships with leaders.
- Strong working knowledge of Workday Recruiting.
