Scripps Shared Services Company is hiring a Senior Manager, Data Platforms to be the strategic architect of our data infrastructure. In this remote role, you will design, create, and manage the foundational systems that ensure our data is organized, accessible, and secure, directly supporting our business goals.
What You'll Do
- Interpret and deliver strategic plans to improve data integration, quality, and delivery.
- Design the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes.
- Partner with data architecture to define schemas, optimize storage, and establish security.
- Define and implement the long-term technology strategy and innovation roadmaps.
- Design and implement ETL processes from various sources into our data systems.
- Translate high-level business requirements into data models, metadata, and quality standards.
- Manage senior stakeholders to secure engagement and align projects with strategic roadmaps.
- Simplify existing data architecture to deliver reusable services and cost savings.
- Lead peer reviews and quality assurance of architectural artifacts through governance forums.
- Define and manage standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality.
- Work with IT and analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and develop solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management and analytics.
What We're Looking For
- Generally, 7+ years of experience in data modeling, database design, or a related field.
- Hands-on project experience with RDBMS, NoSQL, ETL, and dimensional modeling.
- Strong ability in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C/C++.
- Ability in data science languages/tools such as SQL, R, SAS, or Excel.
- Proficiency in modern data architectures: cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), real-time data (Kafka, Dataflow), and warehouse tools (Snowflake, Databricks).
- Experience with database technologies and understanding of entity-relationship modeling.
- Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions to business needs.
- Ability to assess traditional and modern data architecture components.
- Experience with business intelligence tools and technologies such as ETL, Power BI, and Tableau.
- Ability to regularly learn and adopt new technology, especially in ML/AI.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and complex information synthesis skills.
- Ability to collaborate and excel in complex, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to guide solution design and architecture to meet business needs.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field.
