Honeywell is seeking a Senior IT Database Administrator to join our Database Management organization, reporting to a Sr. Director, IT. In this role, you will manage a large footprint of database technologies to build a foundation for innovation, performance, reliability, and scalability across on-premise and public cloud solutions. You will be instrumental in setting database strategy and delivering a robust data platform for Honeywell’s Digital Platform and Applications.
What You'll Do
- Lead the strategic platforms for Opensource RDBMS Databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and Opensource NoSQL Databases (MongoDB) on-premise and in Cloud Infrastructure.
- Collaborate on Database Automation activities to improve process efficiency and risk compliance.
- Drive Stability initiatives by proactively reviewing and addressing Database performance and capacity trends.
- Effectively participate in and guide a 24x7 operational support shift model.
- Mentor and guide DBAs blended with young and experienced team members.
- Stay focused, lead by example, coordinate with the leadership team, and provide value as a strong team player.
- Implement High Availability database solutions in MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
- Lead and manage high-severity database issues impacting revenue applications, working cross-functionally with infrastructure, network, and application teams.
- Ensure centralized 24x7 Database Monitoring and Auditing Tools are in place and effective.
- Provision MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations.
- Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
- Engage in the full lifecycle of the Database environment (Plan, Build, Patch, Run).
- Maintain Risk and Control oversight of the DB environment, engaging with DB Security and Engineering teams.
- Provide guidance to Operational Database Support teams to troubleshoot business-impacting performance issues.
- Apply technical expertise to strategize for current and future technological developments and serve as a point of contact for technical questions.
- Create and maintain processes and documentation for various database activities including architecture, user access, DB creation, migration, security, and more.
- Contribute to formulating strategies for infrastructure technologies across business sectors.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements like SOX, PCI, GDPR, Export compliance.
- Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Honeywell's reputation and assets.
- Engage in cross-platform training and sessions on technology trends to foster career growth.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 6 years of experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL & MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with database technology in Azure and AWS.
- Experience in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and production support.
- Hands-on experience in transforming to and from an on-premise environment to cloud technology.

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in Database Tuning.
- Excellent oral, written, and collaborative communication skills.
- The ability to partner effectively across IT teams, suppliers, and business customers on cross-functional projects and process improvements.

- Knowledge and hands-on experience with data protection, business continuity, and disaster recovery options.
- Experience in effectively dealing with critical outages and remediation efforts.
- Creative and collaborative problem-solving capability.
- Experience and knowledge of MS SQL, Oracle databases, and Big Data is a big plus.
- Strong influencing, program, and change management skills.
- Strong business acumen and customer focus.
- The ability to translate business issues and requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong knowledge of IT business processes and practices including ITIL methodology.
