The Indiana Department of Correction and Madison State Hospital are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize critical database systems. In this role, you will design, implement, and support SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases across both on-premise and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, ensuring high performance, security, and availability for state agencies.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of complex database systems to ensure high availability and quality.
- Develop and implement strategies for database performance tuning and optimization, including indexing and query optimization.
- Develop, manage, and enhance backup and recovery strategies to protect data integrity and availability.
- Implement and enforce robust database security measures, including access controls and monitoring for potential security breaches.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across databases through regular audits and quality checks.
- Provide advanced support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving complex database-related issues.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to design and implement new database-related projects.
- Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreements and industry regulations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and other IT staff.
What We're Looking For
- A Master’s Degree and 1+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience, or an Associate's Degree and 5+ years of experience, or 7+ years of experience applying the required knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
- Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
- Proven experience with SQL Server in AWS and Azure.
- Proficiency in managing SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases in both on-premise and cloud environments.
