AECOM is hiring a Senior High Voltage AC/DC Cable Engineer to join the Transmission & Distribution team within our Enterprise Capabilities group. This role involves designing complex cable systems, managing projects, optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards, contributing to groundbreaking infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement designs for medium and high-voltage AC/DC cable systems for transmission and distribution networks.
- Create detailed designs for HV, MV, and LV power cables, including conductor sizing, insulation, and shielding based on project needs.
- Design DC cable routes for underground and submarine applications, considering thermal resistivity, soil conditions, and installation methods.
- Design cable layouts and configurations to meet electrical, thermal, and mechanical requirements like ampacity and voltage drop.
- Perform engineering analyses, including thermal, electrical, and mechanical evaluations, to ensure optimal cable performance.
- Conduct load-flow studies and evaluate cable ampacity to support system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate schedules, milestones, and resources.
- Assist in planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for cable projects to meet timelines and financial targets.
- Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and budget estimates to support project planning.
- Conduct thermal, electrical, and mechanical modeling to identify and mitigate potential system issues.
- Optimize cable systems by evaluating and implementing advanced engineering practices to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Monitor system performance metrics and recommend upgrades to improve resilience.
- Ensure all cable designs and projects meet relevant industry standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI) and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including calculations, design drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Generate progress reports, performance analyses, and inspection outcomes to support project transparency.
