Lead the execution of Design and Process FMEAs as a trusted moderator within complex automotive development projects. This freelance role requires part-time commitment starting February 2026, with flexible scheduling between 4 and 12 hours per week. You will facilitate workshops according to the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook, guiding interdisciplinary teams through structured risk analysis.
What You'll Do
Drive FMEA sessions from planning to closure, ensuring teams follow each phase: structure analysis, function breakdown, failure mode identification, cause-effect logic, risk assessment, and action tracking. Challenge engineering, quality, and manufacturing participants to uncover meaningful failure scenarios and support the development of robust mitigation strategies. Maintain methodological integrity across sessions and act as the go-to expert for FMEA best practices.
Ensure consistent documentation using Plato e1ns (Peak Avenue), the required platform for all FMEA records. Support audit readiness by maintaining traceability and clarity in risk assessments. Collaborate with international stakeholders, primarily in English, while adapting to German-speaking contexts when necessary.
Requirements
- 8 to 15+ years of hands-on FMEA experience in the automotive sector
- Proven track record as an FMEA moderator, not just contributor
- Deep understanding of AIAG & VDA FMEA methodology and its practical application
- Proficiency with Plato e1ns (Peak Avenue) – mandatory
- Fluent English communication, both written and spoken
- Ability to lead senior engineers and influence cross-functional teams independently
- Experience working in distributed, multinational project environments
Benefits
