Nomic Foundation is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the core of the Ethereum developer tooling stack. You will manage two closely related teams to shape the product roadmap, drive alignment, provide technical leadership, and foster individual growth within a mission-driven organization.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership by participating in discussions, guiding code reviews and design decisions, and mentoring on technical choices.
- Drive successful product delivery by taking ownership of projects, ensuring on-time delivery with quality features, and defining MVPs and milestones.
- Manage project scope by prioritizing tasks, identifying dependencies, and mitigating risks.
- Collaborate with product managers to translate user needs and market trends into a technical roadmap.
- Build a high-performing team by motivating and guiding engineers, implementing processes for performance reviews and career development, and establishing clear team structure.
- Increase transparency within the team by sharing information on other Nomic projects and initiatives.
- Champion the team's achievements and deliverables to other departments.
- Proactively communicate with leadership and stakeholders to address concerns, clarify direction, and ensure alignment across teams and with the community.
- Articulate a clear vision for the team's mission, challenges, and milestones, connecting their work to Nomic's broader goals.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of experience directly managing and growing engineering teams, ideally including senior engineers and/or multiple teams, in a remote or async environment.
- 6+ years of experience technically leading projects and driving multi-year roadmaps.
- Ability to direct without micromanaging or forcing decisions.
- Experience implementing or refining processes around performance reviews, career development, and hiring.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable software architectures.
- Strong expertise in conducting code, design and product launch reviews, identifying potential technical issues or risks, and suggesting improvements.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience building extensible developer tools, including test environments, deployment systems, or build pipelines.
- Experience with open source and/or TypeScript/Rust projects.
