Back Market is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for our Cloud Infrastructure team, a key part of the CloudOps group. You will lead and mentor a team of 8 engineers based in Paris, Barcelona, and remotely across France, empowering Back Market engineers with reliable and sustainable infrastructure services across Europe, the US, and APAC.

What You'll Do

Lead, mentor, and empower a cloud infrastructure team of 8 engineers, fostering a culture of trust, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with colleagues in the CloudOps Group, including SRE and Engineering Productivity teams, partnering with Staff Engineers and stakeholders to build relevant, adopted infrastructure services.
Handle operational responsibilities: coordinating incidents, maintaining calm, and managing an effective on-call rotation.
Treat infrastructure as a product, developing metrics-driven approaches to measure service usage and satisfaction.
Prioritize and evolve the team’s roadmap iteratively based on feedback, observations, and adoption metrics.
Take ownership of cost-efficiency and sustainability initiatives within infrastructure, reducing engineering costs and carbon footprint.
Embrace iteration and experimentation, supporting the team in learning from successes and failures.
Help the team, platform, and organization grow and evolve on the existing toolset.

What We're Looking For

Proven experience managing infrastructure/platform engineering teams in an international technology-driven environment.
Ability to create a team environment where members feel they belong and are supported to do their best work.
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure tooling, especially Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes (GKE), and Terraform.
Understand infrastructure delivery as products, measuring success through adoption, metrics, and satisfaction.
Strong feelings about cost efficiency, sustainability, and actively reducing environmental footprint.
Comfortable coordinating incident responses, handling complex operational environments, dynamic backlogs, and on-call rotations.
Pragmatic and data-driven.
Prioritize people and relationships, showing servant leadership qualities, empathy, and excellent coaching and communication skills.
Fluent and comfortable working professionally in English.

Nice to Have

Familiarity or experience with Golang.
Experience working closely with Performance optimization and developer experience.
Previous use of or exposure to engineer-focused developer portals such as Backstage.
Understanding of regulatory or compliance considerations (like GDPR, PCI-DSS, ISO27001, etc.).

You will lead a team of 8 engineers. The team is part of the CloudOps group, working alongside Performance optimisation and developer experience teams. You will report to the previous manager, who is taking on CloudOPS scope.
