Shape the future of nuclear energy operations by leading through-life operational planning for a cutting-edge Small Modular Reactor. In this role, you will work at the intersection of design, safety, and operational efficiency, ensuring systems are built for reliable, cost-effective, and safe performance across all operating modes and lifecycle stages—including decommissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational input into design reviews, ensuring components, systems, and layouts support long-term maintainability and safety
- Determine staffing needs, including roles, skill sets, and crew sizes for all phases of plant operation
- Define operating parameters for normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions to support safe and stable performance
- Model lifecycle costs by analyzing staffing, maintenance schedules, and spare parts requirements
- Collaborate with regulators, customers, and industry groups to represent operational expertise
- Support the development of operational limits and conditions for both routine and faulted scenarios
Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
- Completion of Reactor Operator training program
- Proven experience in operations at a nuclear power facility
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary ranges from £53,800 to £66,500, with a performance bonus of up to 12.5%. A flexible benefits allowance of £2,200 allows customization of your package. Additional offerings include a 12% employer pension contribution, BUPA private medical insurance, life assurance, and generous parental leave policies. New hires receive a £250 home office allowance.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role with primary locations in Derby, Warrington, and Manchester. Flexible hours, remote work options, and part-time arrangements are available. The expected frequency of on-site presence will be discussed during hiring.
