This position supports the production of space flight sub-systems and related equipment through precise electro-mechanical assembly. The technician interprets engineering documentation, follows strict manufacturing procedures, and maintains compliance with quality and safety protocols in a clean room and aerospace setting.
Responsibilities
- Assemble printed circuit board components into product enclosures with precision
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and standard operating procedures to perform electro-mechanical builds
- Utilize calibrated precision instruments such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers
- Visually inspect assemblies against engineering specifications and test procedures
- Maintain product quality and ensure compliance with defined standards
- Record and manage non-conformance reports and related repair actions
- Perform soldering and rework on through-hole and surface mount technology (SMT) components
- Apply conformal coatings, epoxies, and masking materials as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Over three years of experience in electronics and electro-mechanical assembly, including printed circuit board (PCB) integration
- More than three years of experience assembling high-reliability electro-mechanical systems
- Extensive familiarity with ESD controls and IPC standards including J-STD-001 and A-610
- Proven soldering experience exceeding three years
- Ability to interpret blueprints and follow aerospace manufacturing instructions
- Capable of frequently lifting 20 pounds or more
- Physically able to stand, bend, reach, and move for extended durations with minimal breaks
Nice to Have
- Over five years of experience building space-rated components such as avionics, batteries, mechanisms, optics, or solar arrays
- More than three years using hand tools, test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and precision measuring devices
- Experience working in a clean room environment for more than three years
- More than three years in manufacturing or assembly operations
- Current certification in IPC J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610
- Over three years of experience using Microsoft Office and standard office computing systems

Compensation
Summary Pay Range: $29.42 - $47.09 per hour. Includes variable compensation opportunities.
Work Arrangement
Onsite — El Segundo, California. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. Candidates must be able to work any assigned shift.

- Primary shift is first shift, but flexibility is required to support program goals; candidates must be available for any shift assignment.
- This is an hourly, union-represented position under the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721).
- New hires and internal transfers into non-union roles may need to complete training during a 90-day probationary period, with continued employment dependent on successful completion.
