Paramount’s CBSNews.com is hiring a freelance Senior Editor to write and edit content across a wide range of topics, including politics, health, crime, and entertainment. We need someone with strong news judgment who can deliver clear, accurate copy and craft compelling headlines on deadline in a fast-paced digital newsroom.
What You'll Do
- Reinforce CBS News standards, style, and digital best practices in the editing process.
- Help oversee longer-term editorial projects as designated by Management.
- Coordinate pitches and story assignments as designated by Management.
- Coordinate, produce, and update web coverage of news stories, gathering the latest information from a variety of sources.
- React quickly to breaking news, writing and publishing articles and running live blogs.
- Write and edit captions and publish videos from CBS News network and streaming.
- Manage CBSNews.com digital pages.
- Work across CBS News and Stations teams to publish the best of CBS News to our website.
- Track content performance via analytics tools to help inform your decision-making.
- Optimize all stories for search.
- Edit copy across platforms, including video metadata and push alerts.
- Clip and publish videos as needed.
- Send CBS News app, Apple News, and OTT alerts to segments of the audience based on user behavior and location as needed.
- Send breaking emails as needed.
- Backfill other team members as needed.
