Taproot Foundation was looking for a Senior Director, Marketing & Communications

The Taproot Foundation is hiring a Senior Director, Marketing & Communications to shape and execute our comprehensive marketing, communications, and brand strategy. You'll elevate our presence, inspire action, and drive influence as both a big-picture strategist and a hands-on executor.

What You'll Do

  • Define and implement a bold, future-focused brand strategy, leading a comprehensive brand refresh including messaging, visual identity, and voice.
  • Develop and execute a thought leadership strategy positioning Taproot's CEO, programs, and insights as must-follow voices.
  • Design and lead multi-channel marketing campaigns to engage key audiences and drive growth in Taproot's marketplace.
  • Oversee all communications and content production—web, social, email, events, publications—for cohesive storytelling and brand consistency.
  • Develop and manage Taproot's PR strategy, cultivating relationships with media, influencers, and sector leaders.
  • Ensure a strong, engaging digital presence, optimizing website, social channels, and SEO/SEM strategies.
  • Champion innovation within marketing and communications, leveraging emerging technologies including AI tools.
  • Test and scale new engagement strategies that build community and drive participation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Programs, Strategic Partnerships & Advancement, and Product teams to align initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing marketing and communications team, establishing processes and systems.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and analytics dashboards to track effectiveness and report progress to leadership.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing and communications leadership experience.
  • Strong emphasis on brand development, strategy, and execution.
  • Proven ability to translate bold brand strategies into tangible, impactful campaigns.
  • Expertise in digital marketing, content strategy, and PR.
  • Exceptional brand storytelling skills.
  • Data-informed mindset, leveraging analytics to optimize campaigns.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing, creative teams.
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and innovation-forward approach.
  • Deep understanding of brand architecture, positioning, and messaging.
  • Passion for Taproot’s mission and a commitment to amplifying its impact.

Team & Environment

You will lead and mentor a small but mighty high-performing marketing and communications team, reporting directly to the CEO.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 per year

This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States.
