United Franchise Group (UFG, Inc.) is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer on a contract basis. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure that powers cloud-native applications, leveraging AWS and modern DevOps tooling to create scalable, secure, and automated deployment pipelines.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage scalable, secure environments on AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch).
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code with OpenTofu and Terraform.
- Automate environment provisioning, scaling, and deployments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance cloud infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Define and enforce security and compliance best practices (IAM, VPC, encryption, backups).
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to streamline DevOps workflows.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical systems support.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or a related role.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch).
- Proficient in GitLab CI/CD pipeline configuration and deployment automation.
- Experience with OpenTofu or Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
- Proficiency in Bash, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Strong understanding of Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes).
- Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- AWS Certifications (e.g., DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect).
- Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, or Ansible.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
- Experience with multi-account or multi-region AWS setups.
- Familiarity with cost optimization and observability practices.
