Jobgether is hiring a Senior Database Engineer II to design, develop, and optimize the database systems that support our mission-critical, high-transaction applications. In this remote role, you will act as a subject matter expert in SQL Server and AWS-based architectures, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability within our modern cloud and microservices environment.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and optimize database solutions for high-performance, high-transaction systems.
- Develop and maintain database schema, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and constraints.
- Create deployment and rollback scripts for database objects, both manually and via automation.
- Analyze access patterns and propose indexing, constraint, and query strategies for optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and implement both short-term and long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with architects and development teams to prototype and integrate advanced database features.
- Stay current with cloud-native, microservices, and database technologies, contributing to innovation and adoption of best practices.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience, or M.S. degree with 3+ years of experience.
- 5+ years hands-on SQL Server development, including expertise in stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views.
- Strong understanding of SQL Server concurrency, transactions, locking, and data modeling (normalization/de-normalization).
- Knowledge of best practices in database maintenance, indexing, backups, recovery, and disk utilization.
- Basic SQL Server administration skills including security, backups, restores, and snapshot management.
- Experience with SQL Server in AWS environments (RDS, RDS Custom, or SQL Server on EC2).
- Familiarity with AWS microservices architectures and designing databases for distributed applications.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, AWS ECS/EKS) in a microservices context.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor other engineers.
