About the Role

Paint Stores Group is hiring a Senior Database Administrator to design and develop robust, reliable, and secure database management systems. You will build the technical platforms and operational processes that facilitate production needs and accelerate application development, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables.
  • Patch and maintain database systems for optimal security and supportability.
  • Document and communicate database designs to relevant stakeholders and analyze the impact of the data architecture.
  • Code complex programs and develop logical processes on technical platforms.
  • Participate in quality assurance by developing and testing database code in client server environments.
  • Adapt business requirements and develop data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for applications.
  • Develop an understanding of the organization's data and storage mechanisms and assist with capacity planning.
  • Determine appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.
  • Determine how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model.
  • Work with stakeholders to define the database Disaster Recovery plan, database back-up, recovery, and archiving strategy.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Information Systems or, in lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in database engineering and administration.
  • 4-6 years of experience in database engineering and administration.
  • Knowledge and experience with database design, implementation, documentation, and management.
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems and data structures.
  • Experience translating business data needs into technical language.
  • Ability to deal with large pools of data, often unstructured, coming from disparate sources.
  • Experience with Oracle relational databases.
  • Experience with query and coding languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, Python.
  • Knowledge and experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and data security practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Oracle 19C and autonomous databases including single-instances, RAC, and DataGuard.
  • Experience with Oracle 19C and autonomous databases on Oracle Cloud (OCI).
  • Experience in supporting some of the following technologies: Oracle SSO, OIM, OBIEE, Data Guard, Oracle RAC, ASM, and Sun Cluster on Linux and Solaris systems.
  • Working knowledge of the entire Oracle database and Oracle Applications environment and architecture.
  • Expertise with performance tuning and troubleshooting database slowness with a holistic approach.
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Jenkins & Ansible.
  • Additional knowledge on Github and version control would be beneficial.
  • Senior-level Oracle DBA experience.
