Sherwin-Williams is hiring a Senior Database Administrator

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure and efficient database management systems. This role works closely with developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data architectures effectively support business operations and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create database management systems, including setting standards, guidelines, and ensuring quality assurance for all database deliverables.
  • Apply patches and perform ongoing maintenance to ensure database systems remain secure and supportable.
  • Document database designs and communicate them to stakeholders, while evaluating the impact of data architecture changes.
  • Write complex code and develop logical processes across technical platforms.
  • Engage in quality assurance by developing and testing database code in client-server environments.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, including data models, database schemas, and attribute definitions.
  • Gain a deep understanding of organizational data and storage systems to support capacity planning initiatives.
  • Evaluate data suitability for storage and determine the most efficient storage structures.
  • Define relationships between database tables and interactions among fields within a relational model.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish disaster recovery plans, backup procedures, recovery protocols, and data archiving strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Information Systems; alternatively, at least 7 years of relevant experience in database engineering and administration.
  • 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in database engineering and administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design, implementation, documentation, and management practices.
  • Strong understanding of database management systems and data structures.
  • Proven ability to translate business data requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience handling large volumes of unstructured data from diverse sources.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle relational databases.
  • Proficiency in query and programming languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, and Python.
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning, backup and recovery methods, and data security practices.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Oracle 19C and autonomous databases, including single-instance, RAC, and DataGuard configurations.
  • Experience deploying Oracle 19C and autonomous databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Background supporting technologies such as Oracle SSO, OIM, OBIEE, Data Guard, Oracle RAC, ASM, and Sun Cluster on Linux and Solaris platforms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Oracle database and Oracle Applications environments and architecture.
  • Expertise in performance tuning and diagnosing database performance issues using a holistic approach.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools including Jenkins and Ansible.
  • Additional experience with GitHub and version control systems is advantageous.
  • Ideal candidate will have senior-level Oracle DBA experience.
