Copeland is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to implement solutions that solve sophisticated engineering problems. In this role, you will use machine learning, econometrics, and operations research to build customer-focused analytics, discover opportunities for improvement, and translate research into practical solutions.
What You'll Do
- Implement solutions to solve sophisticated engineering problems using machine learning, econometrics, and operations research techniques.
- Build customer-focused analytics in collaboration with data scientist peers.
- Discover opportunities to improve systems, processes, and enterprises through data analytics and automation.
- Generate reports for decision-making using data visualization tools.
- Establish and maintain collaboration with other internal teams to apply cloud and edge-computing capabilities for production and proprietary algorithms.
- Develop in-depth business and domain understanding.
- Translate analytics techniques published in peer-review journals and conference proceedings into practical solutions for challenges at hand.
What We're Looking For
- A strong interdisciplinary background, combining data science expertise with a solid grounding in traditional engineering fields such as Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic / Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, or other relevant degree.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in data wrangling and modeling in Python or similar language and collaborating using Git.
- Proficient in verifying raw data integrity through automation and classic extract-transform-load (ETL) techniques.
- Proficient in robust statistics, hypothesis testing, and experimental design.
- Ability to work virtually with a global team.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into actionable analytics and data science tasks.
Nice to Have
- 1+ years of practical experience in predictive maintenance.
- Advanced Degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic / Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration related thermodynamics, system operation, and system control logic.
- Proven experience in applying signal process (time and frequency domain) for feature engineering.
- Experience in applying optimal control theory and reinforcement learning (RL).
- Proven experience as the technical lead for project(s) or research, or having acted as a change agent for transformation initiatives.
- Experience with Docker, Azure DevOps, and Agile sprints.
- Ability and interest in translating highly sophisticated and abstract concepts to internal and external team members with minimal analytics knowledge.
