The City of New York's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for the NYPD Data Science team within the Office of Management Analysis and Planning. In this role, you'll provide technical leadership, design data science services to solve Department challenges, harmonize software across projects, and deliver advanced machine learning solutions.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical leadership and design data science services that solve Department challenges.
- Harmonize software across data science projects.
- Deliver advanced machine learning solutions.
- Perform expert-level development work in Python.
- Wrangle both structured and unstructured datasets, including text, geospatial, and network data.
- Design effective software architecture.
- Utilize strong project management and team building skills.
What We're Looking For
- A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental, or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative, or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization.
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field.
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above. All candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field and at least two years of responsible full-time research experience.
- Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the required experience.
- Appointments are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
