Naimuri, part of QinetiQ, is looking for a Senior Data Fabric Engineer to design, build, and operate a secure, open, and extensible data fabric capability for our Defence and National Security customers. You will create a shared 'paved road' for data integration, governance, and consumption across batch, streaming, and analyst-driven workflows, including in DDIL and edge environments.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and evolve the event-driven data fabric architecture covering ingestion, integration, storage, processing, metadata, governance, and access patterns.
- Build and operate workflow automation capabilities for repeatable, governed analyst workflows.
- Deliver configurable data integration through curated connectors and standard patterns for transformation, routing, enrichment, and correlation.
- Engineer for DDIL and edge deployments, including design patterns for constrained connectivity and secure configuration distribution.
- Build streaming ingestion, event pipelines, and batch/stream processing workloads using distributed event streaming technologies, Apache Flink, and/or Apache Spark.
- Implement metadata, lineage, catalogue capabilities, and policy-based security and governance.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience as a data or platform engineer working on distributed systems in production.
- Proven hands-on experience with open-source data integration and streaming technologies and delivering configurable integration patterns.
- Previous experience enabling workflow automation for technical users.
- A strong grasp of data modelling fundamentals, data contracts and schema evolution.
- Experience designing for reliability, scalability, and operability: monitoring, alerting, deployment automation, incident handling, and performance tuning.
- A practical security mindset: least privilege, auditability and designing controls that do not restrict usability.
