What You'll Do
- Lead pricing strategy for personal lines insurance at the state level, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals and regulatory standards.
- Mentor and guide early-career actuaries, supporting professional growth and strengthening team capabilities.
- Design and execute complex actuarial analyses using predictive modeling, statistical methods, and data mining techniques to uncover insights and inform pricing decisions.
- Collaborate with business partners across functions to assess pricing effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement data-driven solutions.
- Develop, validate, and document models and assumptions with precision, ensuring transparency and compliance with actuarial best practices.
- Present technical findings clearly to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders, influencing strategic direction and decision-making.
- Lead peer reviews, introduce innovative methodologies, and contribute to the evolution of actuarial processes and tools.
- Advise on product development initiatives, evaluating profitability, data needs, and modeling requirements.
- Represent the organization in discussions with regulators, auditors, and vendors when necessary.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and help design training solutions to build future-ready expertise.
Requirements
- ACAS designation required; FCAS strongly preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of actuarial experience, with a focus on pricing or product development in personal lines insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related quantitative field.
- Deep understanding of actuarial modeling, statistical analysis, and pricing frameworks.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python; experience with actuarial software, databases, and predictive modeling tools.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and analytical programming environments.
- Demonstrated ability in problem solving, strategic thinking, and managing ambiguity.
- Proven experience mentoring others, leading projects, and working effectively across departments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
