Illumina, Inc. is hiring a Senior Clinical Informatics Sales Specialist, West to join our mission of expanding access to genomic technology. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert to identify and close informatics opportunities, selling NGS and genomic data analysis pipelines for clinical research and testing.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical guidance in areas like data visualization, data science/AI/ML, clinical genomics methods, cloud workflows, LIMS, and clinical NGS analysis.
- Consult with customers on informatics requirements, including hardware and software needs.
- Provide proof-of-concept analysis to demonstrate product fit-for-purpose.
- Partner with third-party providers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Work closely with account managers and other sales team members to ensure customer success.
- Develop and conduct basic and advanced informatics presentations, seminars, and creative demos.
- Involve technical roles to facilitate deeper customer assessments or pilots.
- Provide Voice of Customer input to development and marketing teams.
- Become the sub-regional subject matter expert for Clinical Informatics, training the broader sales organization.
- Assist customers in removing informatics barriers to drive sequencing consumables uptake.
- Develop and manage an active sales pipeline.
- Contribute to the annual account manager strategic account management planning process.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a direct sales or similar customer-facing role.
- Willingness to travel ~50%.
- Experience with Sequencing data analysis and interpretation (Variant Calling, filtering, annotation, interpretation, and reporting).
- Knowledge of clinical applications of sequencing, and related data formats, file types, data footprints, and typical analysis methods.
- Recognized deep technical expertise in clinical informatics, bioinformatics, or an associated area.
- Experience with common software toolkits, applications, pipelines, and algorithms for Next Generation Sequencing analysis.
- Knowledge of relevant cloud services and providers, including basic pricing models.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills.
- Outstanding problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Clear vision of and commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed sales organization.
Nice to Have
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a sciences degree in Bioinformatics, Clinical data analysis, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Biochemistry.
- Masters or PhD preferred.
