Position Overview
A financial services organization is seeking a seasoned Senior Business Analyst to drive key initiatives within a large-scale Payments Transformation program. This individual will play a central role in redefining wire payment capabilities across Fedwire, SWIFT, and CHIPS, ensuring systems meet evolving business, operational, and regulatory demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and document detailed requirements for wire payment modernization projects.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on domestic and cross-border wire processing, including message formats, settlement timelines, and operational workflows.
- Map end-to-end payment flows from initiation through settlement, identifying pain points and improvement opportunities.
- Convert business objectives and compliance mandates into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to shape solution architecture and integration approaches.
- Support data translation, message standardization (including MT and ISO 20022), and interface design.
- Identify risks related to settlement, liquidity, sanctions screening, and AML, and help develop mitigation plans.
- Contribute to testing strategies, user acceptance processes, and go-live readiness activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a Business Analyst in financial services with a focus on wire payments.
- Proven expertise in Fedwire, SWIFT (MT and ISO 20022), and CHIPS processing environments.
- Strong understanding of wire lifecycle stages: initiation, validation, repair, release, and settlement.
- Familiarity with cut-off times, liquidity management, and interbank settlement windows.
- Experience handling investigations, recalls, amendments, and exception management.
- Knowledge of sanctions screening, anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Must be based in the United States and available for hybrid or on-site work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in payments modernization or transformation programs.
- Hands-on experience with ISO 20022 migration initiatives.
- Understanding of operational risk and payment system controls.
- Experience in data mapping, integration design, and message standard implementation.
