The State of Wyoming’s Department of Workforce Services seeks a Senior Auditor to join its Employment Tax Division in Cheyenne. You will play a key role in supporting Wyoming employers and ensuring compliance with state laws. This position offers the chance to work independently, build strong professional relationships across the state, and contribute to programs that directly benefit Wyoming’s workforce and business community.
What You'll Do
- Conduct assigned payroll audits and investigate cases, gathering necessary evidence.
- Assist employers and their representatives with filing reports and making payments.
- Collect past-due employer reports and monies.
- Establish yearly and special audit schedules.
- Plan the overall strategy, scope, and conduct of audits.
- Prepare and submit audit reports, reviewing work papers for accuracy.
- Apply Wyoming state statutes, agency rules, and policies.
- Make decisions that are defendable up to the Wyoming State Supreme Court.
- Initiate and represent the agency in legal actions, serving as an expert witness in administrative hearings and court cases.
- Prepare case files for legal actions and collaborate with legal staff.
- Establish relationships with other governmental and private entities to facilitate compliance.
- Serve as a liaison for the Division within your assigned district.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree, typically in Finance.
- 0-3 years of progressive auditing experience with knowledge at the Auditor II level, OR 4-6 years of progressive auditing experience with similar acquired knowledge.
- Knowledge of financial calculations and auditing principles.
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques for thorough examinations.
- Knowledge of public speaking to present findings.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
