Washington University in St Louis is hiring a Senior Associate Director of Digital Strategy for University Advancement. This role provides expertise and oversight of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud email marketing tool to engage alumni, parents, and donors. You will serve as a technical lead, develop creative solutions for centralized campaign management, and build custom email communications.
What You'll Do
- Manage centralized marketing email oversight and the campaign approval process.
- Serve as the primary point for technical Salesforce Marketing Cloud troubleshooting.
- Assist with and document new Salesforce Marketing Cloud features.
- Develop engagement reports to measure results and support list hygiene.
- Build custom and templated emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and schedule their deployment.
- Collaborate with University Advancement partners from concept to deployment to ensure brand alignment.
- Create training documentation for Marketing Cloud users and enforce best practices.
- Monitor ongoing template and design needs across departments.
- Analyze email engagement data and make recommendations for improvement.
- Develop automations and journeys to streamline communication with specific audience segments.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of best practices for broadcast email (accessibility, mobile optimization, A/B testing).
- Understanding of cohesive visual brand identity.
- Prior experience in higher education, non-profit, or advancement communications.
- Skills in AMPscript, analytical thinking, communication, deadline management, detail-orientation, digital trends, email marketing automation, HTML email creation, interpersonal skills, Microsoft Office, multitasking, project management, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, self-management, and technical training.

You will join a five-person digital strategy team within the Advancement Communications department, which is part of the broader University Advancement division.
