GetYourGuide connects people with unforgettable travel experiences. We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our TARS team, building critical infrastructure for traveler support including flexibility tools and a live chat platform powered by AI. You will design and develop new app features, improve app quality, and contribute to cross-team initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop new app features focused on live chat, AI-agent integrations, and enhanced booking flexibility.
- Continuously improve our app by proactively removing tech debt and insisting on simple, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Take an active role in the mobile apps guild and contribute to cross-team initiatives focused on security, performance, and architectural improvements.
- Support operational excellence and ongoing maintenance of our mobile apps, with a focus on reliability, quality, and engineering craftsmanship.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, propose technical solutions, and deliver working software that drives measurable impact.
- Work in a cross-functional mission team alongside product managers, designers, conversational designers, and data scientists.
- Leverage AI daily to accelerate your own productivity and push the team's capabilities to the next level.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to team culture, and elevate performance standards.
- Make small backend contributions when needed to keep work moving.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in app development with profound experience in Kotlin and the Android Framework.
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Knowledge of writing automated tests (Unit/UI/Integration/screenshot tests).
- Experience with observability practices, including monitoring, alerting, and performance diagnostics.
- Customer-centric prioritization and data-driven decision-making.
- A positive, pro-active, team-oriented mindset, and a passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge.
- A passion for delivering clean code and continuously learning about new tools, languages, and practices.
- Be excited to experiment with and leverage AI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Nice to Have
- Experience with backend development.
- Experience with iOS development.
- Experience with other multi-platform frameworks such as React Native.
- Have one or more successful Android apps published in the Google Play store.
- Experience improving products through A/B experimentation.
