THE OPPORTUNITY We're seeking a skilled Senior AI / ML Ops Engineer to accelerate our data scientists' capabilities and enhance customer search experiences. You'll own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle—packaging, deploying, operating, and continuously improving machine-learning models that power search ranking, recommendations, and information-retrieval features. What you'll be doing: • Productionization & Packaging: Convert research code into production-ready Python and Go microservices, design reproducible build pipelines, and manage artifacts in centralized registries. • Scalable Deployment: Orchestrate inference workloads on Kubernetes and cloud platforms, ensuring low latency and high throughput. Implement deployment strategies with automatic rollback and model versioning. • MLOps & CI/CD: Build comprehensive CI/CD pipelines covering various tests, automate feature store updates, model retraining, and scheduled batch jobs. • Observability & Reliability: Define and monitor performance indicators, integrate logging and metrics, and establish alerting practices. • Data & Feature Engineering: Create scalable pipelines ingesting diverse data sources, implement feature extraction and validation. • Performance & Cost Optimization: Profile models, leverage hardware acceleration, and optimize cloud resource utilization. • Governance & Compliance: Embed security and responsible AI checks, manage access controls, and ensure auditability. • Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with cross-functional teams and coach junior engineers on MLOps best practices. Role Requirements: • Spend 1-2 days weekly in a local coworking space • 5+ years software engineering experience, 2+ years deploying ML/AI systems • Strong Python and statically typed language skills • Expertise in containerization, orchestration, and cloud platforms • Proven CI/CD pipeline and testing framework implementation • Deep understanding of distributed systems and data processing • Experience monitoring mission-critical services • Familiarity with ML lifecycle tools • Working knowledge of ML concepts Compensation: $200,000 - $350,000 USD We offer a flexible workplace emphasizing individual impact and contribution.
