Canada Life UK is hiring a Senior Actuary to join our Actuarial Function Oversight team. In this role, you will provide critical actuarial, statistical, and financial insight and analysis to senior leadership, overseeing a wide range of activities including Reinsurance, Pricing, Financial Reporting, and Internal Model work.
What You’ll Do
- Provide accurate modelling, financial analysis, advice, and support to various business areas, making commercially astute recommendations.
- Lead risk analysis activity, operating cross-functionally on BAU and project work, collaborating with and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Communicate the impact of actuarial investigations and analyses to senior executives and provide clear recommendations.
- Initiate and oversee the production of regular reports and longer-term plans undertaken by other actuaries, leading continuous process improvement.
- Oversee and implement actuarial control frameworks, initiating regular reviews of controls and analysis.
- Manage, coach, develop, and motivate qualified and part-qualified actuaries to optimise team performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries or an equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience in the life insurance industry as a subject matter expert in multiple actuarial disciplines.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of business needs.
- Proven ability to understand complex statistical and financial models across a range of actuarial disciplines.
- Specific experience in IFRS17 and Solvency II financial reporting, particularly for annuity products.
- Excellent communication skills, tailored for all levels of management, including Board level.
- Strong influencing skills and experience engaging with Boards and senior management.
- The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the actuarial function and wider business.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, well-organised, pragmatic, and able to work independently.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating a diverse team.
Team & Environment
You will lead small to medium sized teams of qualified and part-qualified actuaries and analysts. The role is part of the Actuarial Function Oversight team, which works closely with the Chief Actuary.
