About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Senior 3D Software Engineer to push the boundaries of 3D graphics and avatar technology. You will design and implement scalable, cross-platform solutions for creating high-fidelity digital characters and immersive experiences across cloud and mobile platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Prototype, build, and debug research-driven tools for 3D content creation on cloud and mobile platforms.
  • Architect clean, extensible, and portable software systems following open standards.
  • Optimize data structures and algorithms for speed, memory efficiency, and low latency.
  • Share 3D graphics expertise with cross-functional teams and foster knowledge exchange.
  • Provide strategic guidance on software design, debugging, and the development of research-driven 3D tools.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to ensure high-quality implementation.

What We're Looking For

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent industry experience, with demonstrated excellence.
  • 4+ years of experience developing 3D software or real-time engines (Unity, Unreal), with deep understanding of architecture.
  • Advanced 3D mathematics knowledge, including linear algebra, computational geometry, and numerical methods.
  • Expertise in 3D graphics, including OpenGL, Vulkan, and shader programming.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and testing frameworks.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and integrate diverse technologies to innovate quickly.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with 3D animation, rigged characters, physical simulation, AI models in 3D.
  • Experience with 3D interchange formats (USD, glTF), DCC tools (Blender, Maya, Houdini).
  • Experience with cloud orchestration, CI/CD, concurrent programming, and GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL).

  • Compensation: $190,000 – $250,000 per year + equity.
