Panic Stations is hiring a Senior 3D Generalist / Tech Artist

About the Role

The role involves combining artistic skill with programming knowledge to build efficient pipelines and solve complex visual challenges in interactive media projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize 3D assets for real-time rendering environments
  • Collaborate with engineers and artists to implement visual features
  • Create and maintain tools to streamline art pipelines
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across modeling, animation, and rendering systems
  • Ensure visual consistency across platforms and devices
  • Write and maintain clear technical documentation
  • Support rigging, skinning, and animation systems
  • Improve asset performance for memory and speed efficiency
  • Work closely with design teams to realize artistic vision within technical constraints
  • Evaluate and integrate new software and workflows
  • Assist in setting technical standards for 3D content creation
  • Optimize shaders and materials for real-time applications
  • Debug rendering artifacts and graphical glitches
  • Contribute to the development of custom pipelines and automation scripts
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary reviews and planning sessions
  • Maintain compatibility between DCC tools and game engines
  • Support version control practices for art and code assets
  • Refine workflows to reduce iteration time
  • Assist in onboarding and mentoring junior team members
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Nice to Have

  • Experience with virtual production techniques
  • Knowledge of Houdini or other procedural tools
  • Background in film or broadcast animation pipelines
  • Familiarity with AR/VR development
  • Experience with performance capture data
  • Understanding of linear algebra and 3D math concepts
  • Contributions to open-source tools or plugins
  • Experience in team leadership or mentorship roles
