Churchill Downs is seeking a Security Shift Manager to ensure the safety and security of all guests, team members, and company assets at Calder Casino. You will lead and manage the security team during your assigned shift, fostering a secure, compliant, and positive environment.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the safety and security of all guests, team members, and company assets during your assigned shift.
- Lead, train, manage, and schedule the security team, monitoring compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Serve as a role model, coach, and leader to team members, fostering teamwork and open communication.
- Communicate policy changes, special events, and other activities to the security team.
- Operate and manage the KeyWatcher system for access control and key inventory.
- Respond to and evaluate emergency alarms, medical crises, and security breaches, providing first aid and notifying appropriate services.
- Investigate incidents and guest complaints, compiling data and writing clear, concise reports.
- Promote confidential treatment of information and provide support to management for sensitive situations.
- Identify operational opportunities and work with senior management to implement solutions.
- Assist the Sr. Director of Safety & Security in achieving departmental goals and conducting emergency drills.
- Log and account for all visitors, vendors, and contractors on property.
- Assist with interviewing security candidates and interact with local law enforcement as required.
- Operate a company vehicle on-site and occasionally off-site.
- Attend all mandatory company training.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 4 years of previous security, law enforcement, and/or casino/hotel security experience.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Current CPR / AED Certification.
- Ability to obtain a valid gaming license.
- Demonstrated management abilities in security operational effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain working relationships among all personnel.
- Commitment to adhering to the Code of Conduct and all company policies.
- Dedication to promoting the business strategy of Clean, Safe, Compliant, Engagement, Service, and EBITDA.
- An open-door policy for team member communication.
- Advanced knowledge of property Emergency Response and Disaster Plans.
- Advanced knowledge of the KeyWatcher system and software.
- Advanced knowledge of local gaming laws, regulations, and company internal controls.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to assume overall responsibility for shift performance.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict and provide conflict resolution.
Nice to Have
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
