The Indiana Department of Correction / Madison State Hospital is seeking Seasonal Property Workers to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of public areas at state properties. In this role, you’ll provide friendly customer service while performing essential tasks across a variety of specialized positions. What You'll Do
- Provide friendly customer service and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of areas used by the general public.
- Attendants: Collect revenue from fees and permits, handling cash and credit card transactions.
- Concessions: Sell location-specific items like firewood, food, and rentals; handle payments; collect fees and permits; report inventory.
- Housekeepers: Maintain and clean property buildings, grounds, and facilities, including deep cleaning of restrooms and showers.
- Laborers: Maintain and repair property buildings, grounds, and facilities; duties include landscaping, mowing, firewood processing, structure maintenance, sign creation, trail upkeep, carpentry, and plumbing.
- Office Assistants: Answer inquiries about the property, provide customer service, and assist property management with operations and administrative functions.
- Clerks: Perform tasks to support property staff including inventory, stocking, reporting, budgeting, and administrative duties.
- Security Officers: Monitor visitor activities, report problems, patrol property, enforce regulations, and provide security to facilities and sites, including late-night visits to areas prone to vandalism and illegal activities.
- DOC Crew Supervisors: Monitor Department of Corrections work release crew activities, participate in labor duties, and provide transportation for the crew.
- Shooting Range Officers (Brookville Lake Only): Monitor shooting range visitors, provide customer service and education on safe gun handling, enforce standard operating procedures, and provide basic maintenance.
What We're Looking For
- Able to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willing to wear a DNR-provided uniform.
- Comfortable potentially working directly with DOC work release crews.
- May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to travel to additional properties as needed.
- Able to perform duties in a variety of environments including office, field, rugged terrain, and various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Benefits & Compensation
- The hourly wage for seasonal positions varies, starting at $12.25/hour.
- This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven-month continuous period.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position. Work locations include Mississinewa Lake and Brookville Lake (specifically for the Shooting Range Officer role).
