About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join the Technology Services team at Auckland Council. This role is a key part of our organization's transformation journey, where you will foster high performance in cross-functional delivery teams, remove impediments, embed Agile practices, and champion continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with cross-functional delivery teams to foster high performance, remove impediments, and embed Agile practices.
  • Champion team events, facilitate collaboration, and support teams to continuously improve how they deliver value.
  • Help uplift agile maturity and shape how we work at scale across the organisation.
  • Work closely with Product Owners to prioritise work, maximise value, and guide teams through backlog refinement, estimation, story splitting, and retrospectives.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, complex environments, ideally with technical teams.
  • Pragmatism and a growth mindset.
  • A strong understanding and practical application of Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
  • A background working with technical delivery teams.
  • A desire to collaborate with fellow Scrum Masters as part of our Scrum Master Practice.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and uplifting team capability.

Nice to Have

  • A relevant Agile qualification (e.g., SAFe Scrum Master).
